ART 6. Dug C.S. 3.3"Read shell.
This very rare shell is of the type pictured on
page 269 of Dickey and George's Field Artillery
book. The iron is excellent with only very light
pitting. This shell was probably fired with a
wooden time fuse adaptor but could be tapped
to accept a CS "West Point" type percussion
fuse. Sabot is complete and shows rifling.
Shell  sits up straight. Dug at Vicksburg, MS.

Non excavated and stamped "INERT", This
projectile comes with everything but the powder.

Petersburg, VA. One of the best I have seen.

"Tredegar Iron Works" pattern of the type shown
on page 247 of Dickey and George's book. Note
the iron bourrelets and iron sabot. This is a
dropped example from the North Anna Battlefield
with what I call even, medium pitting. A very good
Confederate shell with a rarity of 7.

the sabot having a portion sheared off.
