This variant is of the type pictured on the cover of Lon Keim's Confederate buckle book.  It was dug two weeks ago in an 1862 CS camp in Lincoln County, Tennessee.

"Clipped corner" variant similar to the one pictured

For some unknown reason, this rebel decided to 
poke holes around the perimeter of it. Dug
very recently at an untouched Confederate 
training camp in Lincoln County, TN.

ART 3. CS Marshall TX. Read shell.
Very rare Trans-Mississippi shell manufactured  by the Confederate arsenal at Marshall, Texas.
The iron is stable and the crude brass sabot
 is fully intact. There is a small stress fracture in the iron along the mold seam, but overall a better than average Marshall. Dug at Mansura, LA.
